The Colorado Balloon Classic!

Every year, around Labor Day, Colorado Springs hosts two important events: the Firefighter's Memorial Ceremony and the Colorado Balloon Classic.

The Firefighter's Memorial is an international event honoring those firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty during the last year.Each name is read aloud and inscribed on a wall in Memorial Park. It is a gorgeous, solemn ceremony of honor. Bagpipes and drums, the families of those being remembered, and representatives of fire departments from the U.S. and Canada.  

Shannon + Jake

were married late last year in Phoenix, AZ. Shannon's step-mom is a photographer friend and asked me to fly down to photograph the wedding - so that she could play more of the Mom role. Good idea!!!

The wedding was held at a place called The Boojum Tree Gardens. Jake is a ranch man, and when we were introduced he said "I don't get into town much, so make me look good." As you can see, that was not a problem. Shannon is a nurse and was living out her dream day, full of romance and Jake. We had a lovely day (November in Phoenix, rather than July-August in Phoenix) and made some sweet images.

Spring arrives at the home/studio!

Okay, so I've succumbed to spring fever. My good friend Lise Hunt stopped by with flowers and we spent part of the afternoon planting them - then had tea.

Lise is a good friend and local photographer. She thought I needed some color for the entrance to the home/studio. It was great fun getting hands dirty and adding splashes of color - looks good.
